1. About us

This website, www.melta.org.my, is owned and operated by the Malaysian English Language Teaching Association (MELTA), a society registered with the Registry of Societies Malaysia under registration number PPM-001-10-27101959, with its registered address at G-11-2, Putra Walk, Jalan PP 25, Taman Pinggiran Putra, Bandar Putra Permai, 43300 Seri Kembangan, Malaysia. In these Terms, "MELTA", "we", "us" and "our" refer to the Association.

2. Acceptance of these Terms

By using this website, or by applying for or paying for MELTA membership, you agree to these Terms & Conditions, our Privacy Policy and our Refund & Cancellation Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use this website or make any payment to MELTA.

3. Membership

  • MELTA membership is governed by the Constitution of the Association. Eligibility, membership categories and member rights are set out on our Membership page.
  • All applications are subject to approval by the MELTA Committee. MELTA may decline an application that does not meet the eligibility requirements.
  • You must provide accurate and complete information in your application and inform us of any changes.
  • Individual membership is personal and non-transferable. Institutional and Corporate memberships extend benefits to up to three currently employed personnel nominated by the member organisation.

4. Fees and payment

  • Membership fees are listed on our Pricing page. All fees are charged in Malaysian Ringgit (MYR).
  • The entrance fee is payable once. If a membership is not renewed before its expiry date, the entrance fee applies again on rejoining.
  • Annual memberships run per calendar year or part thereof and end on 31 December, regardless of the date of joining.
  • Online payments are processed by our payment gateway provider, Curlec (Razorpay Curlec). MELTA does not receive or store your full card details.
  • If you pay with a card issued outside Malaysia, any currency conversion and related charges are applied by your card issuer, not by MELTA.
  • MELTA may revise its fees from time to time. Revised fees do not affect memberships already paid for.

5. Refunds and cancellation

Membership fees are non-refundable and payments cannot be cancelled once completed, except as set out in our Refund & Cancellation Policy.

6. Resignation and termination

Members may resign from the Association, and MELTA may terminate a membership, in accordance with the Constitution of the Association. Fees already paid are not refunded on resignation or termination.

7. Events

Registration for conferences and other events organised by MELTA is governed by the terms published on the respective event website or registration page.

8. Use of this website

  • You may use this website for lawful purposes only.
  • Content on this website is provided for general information. While we aim to keep it accurate and up to date, we do not guarantee that it is complete, current or free of errors, or that the website will always be available.
  • Unless otherwise stated, the content of this website, including the MELTA name and logo, belongs to MELTA. You may not reproduce it for commercial purposes without our written permission.

9. Third-party websites and services

This website links to services operated by others, including our journals platform, our online application form and our social media pages. MELTA is not responsible for the content or privacy practices of third-party websites.

10. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, MELTA is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of this website. Nothing in these Terms excludes any liability that cannot be excluded under the laws of Malaysia.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The version published on this page, with its "Last updated" date, applies.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia, and any dispute is subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Malaysia.
